Last updated · By ModelsLab Engineering

Suno runs its API behind a sign-in at platform.suno.com and publishes no API price list. The ModelsLab song API is public: send your lyrics, or a prompt it writes lyrics from, and get back a sung song of up to 8 minutes as WAV for $0.001 per second of audio. A 3-minute song costs $0.18.

  • $0.001 per second of audio
  • 3-minute song: $0.18
  • No per-song charge on the $149/month plan

Should You Use Suno or a Song API?

Use a song API when you need published terms today

If your app generates songs for users, you need a price per song you can put in a spreadsheet, a documented request and response, and rights you can pass on. Suno’s API exists, but its documentation and prices sit behind a sign-in. The ModelsLab endpoint is documented on this page: at $0.001 per second, 1,000 three-minute songs cost $180, and on the $149/month Open Source Unlimited plan they carry no per-song charge.

Stay on Suno when its sound is the product

Suno’s models are its own, and a different model will not sound the same on your prompts. If your users ask for Suno by name, apply for Suno’s API and compare. You can also run Sonauto on the same ModelsLab key at $0.08 per song, or Google Lyria 3 for 30-second clips at $0.05.

For instrumental music, sound beds and loops, see the AI music API; to write lyrics only, call the lyrics generator at $0.02 per set.

Generate a song with one request

Set lyrics_generation to true to send a prompt, or to false to send your own lyrics. Always set caption: it carries the genre, voice and instruments, and a request without it gets a default style.

cURL — prompt to song

bash
1curl -X POST 'https://modelslab.com/api/v6/voice/song_generator' \
2 -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
3 -d '{
4 "key": "YOUR_MODELSLAB_API_KEY",
5 "lyrics_generation": true,
6 "prompt": "An upbeat pop song about a summer sale at a small shop",
7 "caption": "upbeat pop, female lead vocal, bright synths, 120 bpm",
8 "duration": 60,
9 "language": "en"
10 }'
11# Songs up to 30 s usually return the WAV URL in "output". Others are queued:
12# POST the "fetch_result" URL with your key until "status" is "success".

Python — your own lyrics

python
1import time
2
3import requests
4
5KEY = "YOUR_MODELSLAB_API_KEY"
6
7result = requests.post(
8 "https://modelslab.com/api/v6/voice/song_generator",
9 json={
10 "key": KEY,
11 "lyrics_generation": False,
12 "lyrics": "[Verse]\nNeon on the water, city never sleeps\n[Chorus]\nWe run until the morning",
13 "caption": "synthwave, male vocal, driving drums",
14 "duration": 120,
15 },
16 timeout=60,
17).json()
18fetch_url = result.get("fetch_result")
19
20while result.get("status") == "processing":
21 time.sleep(10)
22 result = requests.post(fetch_url, json={"key": KEY}, timeout=60).json()
23
24print(result["output"][0] if result.get("status") == "success" else result)

Suno runs an API portal at platform.suno.com, but it asks you to sign in with a Suno account and shows no public documentation or price list (checked October 15, 2026). Suno's public prices are for its app: Pro at $10/month with 2,500 credits and Premier at $30/month with 10,000 credits.

With a public price on October 15, 2026: the ModelsLab song API at $0.001 per second of audio, Sonauto on the same ModelsLab key at $0.08 per song, Mureka at $0.045 per song from lyrics or $0.30 from a prompt, ElevenLabs Music at $0.15 per minute, and Google Lyria 3 at $0.04 per 30-second clip. Udio lists no API.

$0.001 per second of audio with a $0.0047 minimum, so a 3-minute song costs $0.18, plus $0.02 when the API writes the lyrics for you. On the $149/month Open Source Unlimited plan songs carry no per-song charge.

Yes. Set lyrics_generation to false and send lyrics with section tags such as [Verse] and [Chorus], or set it to true and send a prompt of up to 2,000 characters for the API to write lyrics from. Always send caption with the genre, voice and instruments — a request without it gets a default style. instrumental: true makes a song without vocals, and language takes 50 language codes.

Up to 480 seconds, 30 by default. A song of up to 30 seconds usually returns the WAV URL in the response; longer ones, and short ones that take more than 30 seconds, are queued, and you POST the fetch_result URL with your key until status is success.

ModelsLab's terms of service say every generation is yours and can be used for commercial purposes. Suno grants commercial use only for songs made while you hold a paid plan.
